The primary goal of the RE-CREATION project is to allow the agency to bring all of its programs under one roof and to also allow other agencies and organizations the opportunity to use the gymnasium. RE-CREATION currently has 12 programs at various locations throughout the city.
Eighty percent of the families that RE-CREATION serves are low- to moderate-income and 60 percent come from single female-headed households. Most programs offered by the agency are free of charge or carry a minimum registration fee. In many cases, these programs are the only recreational option for families in a community with chronically high rates of unemployment and poverty.
