The donation is intended to acknowledge our Vietnam War veterans for their sacrifice and to honor their memory with the establishment of a permanent Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Wall at Fall River’s Bi-Centennial, Veterans Memorial Park.
The Wall will be ideally situated on the southeast corner of Bi-Centennial Veterans Memorial Park and will be directly in front of the President Avenue entrance to the park, allowing for direct access to the wall and viewing by the public. A Memory Walk, comprised of bricks inscribed with the names of all Veterans and citizens who want to permanently express their respect and remembrance of the sacrifice made by Vietnam Veterans, will be placed directly in front of the wall. A replica of the Memorial Wall is located in Washington, D.C., Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Committee has properly secured the exclusive proprietary rights for all of Massachusetts as well as a 50 mile radius from Fall River outside of the state, to bring a permanent 80% replica wall.
The Vietnam Memorial Wall is scheduled to begin construction in 2020. It will be located alongside the World War II and the Korean and Gold Star Memorials located at the Veterans Bicentennial Park.
“We are proud to support this initiative which acknowledges the incredible sacrifices these veterans made on behalf of our nation and their fellow citizens,” said William R. Eccles, Jr., President and CEO of BankFive.
The Vietnam Memorial Wall addresses the collective need to recognize and honor the heroes who made ultimate sacrifices in Vietnam. Additionally, it is a privilege for regional Vietnam Veterans to bring a replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall to Fall River, Massachusetts and to serve the surrounding areas.
