You really want to give that special someone a memorable gift this Valentine’s Day, but you’re on a budget. Not a problem! Here are some inexpensive ways to play Cupid this year:
- Get cookin’! You’re sure to win their affection with a favorite homemade meal or dessert. And don’t forget the candles and romantic music to help set the mood!
- Say it with words – or music. Nothing quite stirs the heart than a personal poem or song. It can be serious or it can be silly, but more than likely it will always be remembered.
- Cover it in chocolate. If your mate is a chocoholic, you can’t go wrong by whipping up a batch of chocolate-covered strawberries, cherries, pretzels, or graham crackers.
- Let the hearts do the talking – candy hearts, that is. More than a century ago, the New England Confectionery Company (better known as NECCO) dreamed up the idea of tiny candy hearts emblazoned with short, simple messages of love. They’re still popular today. So grab a few dozen and spread them around in unsuspecting spots like the kitchen pantry, bathroom closet, or front seat of the car. Or string a bunch together to make a tasty necklace!
- Eat dinner at home and then go out for dessert or an after-dinner cocktail.
- Give your partner a “hands-on” treat with a neck, back or foot massage.
- Create a slide show of your favorite “together” photos and share it with your partner.
- Let your mate sleep in and then serve them brunch in bed.
- Make a short, sassy video with your phone and send it to your lover in the middle of the day.
- Create an electronic Valentine’s Day card and deliver it to their online mailbox. Or if you’re crafty, create a handmade card and stick it under their pillow.
Mix or match these ideas to make it an unforgettable Valentine’s Day for you and your loved one.
